Missing Yellow Lines

In the Street where my shop is situated we have yellow lines down both sides of the street and cars are only allowed to park on one side of the street as there is a cycle lane on the other side.  Now on the side where you can park there is about a 6 foot gap in the yellow lines caused by roadworks and the fact that the lines have been worn away.  So as the yellow line is not a "continuous and unbroken Yellow line" as stated in the Highway Code and the Road Traffic Act . Ddes this now mean that the rest of the yellow line is invalid and no tickets can be issued?

I have had tickets quashed in the past when i have sent pictures of missing or faded lines on roads where i've been issued a ticket, but the local wardens tell me the whole lines are still valid and the broken/missing part is still valid.  Can anyone confirm that if when the lines are missing and or broken (especially a 6 foot gap) they are no longer valid.

Regards

Fitzy
