Camden in 10,000 'wrong fines' row

Camden Council has been told by campaigners to bin up to 10,000 parking tickets, issued under "wrong" regulations.
Since 31 March, new laws came into effect, changing parking attendants into "civil enforcement officers".
10,000 motoring fines have been handed out since then and the council has to pass new Traffic Management Orders to legalise their work.

Thousands of parking tickets should be scrapped because they were issued under the "wrong" regulations, campaigners said today. 
About 10,000 fines were handed out in Camden after new rules came into effect on 31 March. On that day, parking attendants became "civil enforcement officers" and councils had to pass new Traffic Management Orders to make their work legal, according to campaign group ParkingAppeals. Instead, it claims, Camden continued to issue penalties under the old legislation.

Drivers fined for stopping inside an "illegal" yellow-box junction outside Tottenham bus station should get their money back, a councillor has demanded.
The box junction in Philip Lane was installed by Haringey Council to freeup access to the Arriva garage - but it did not meet Department for Transport regulations and was unenforceable.
