Drivers fined for stopping inside an "illegal" yellow box junction outside Tottenham bus station are no closer to finding out if they will get their money back.
Councillor Alan Stanton (Labour, Tottenham Hale) tackled Haringey Council about 3,746 penalty charge notices issued on a Philip Lane box junction which did not meet Department for Transport regulations.
The tickets issued between November 2005 and March 2006 - before the mistake was picked up - were unenforceable and Councillor Stanton has called for the money to be paid back.
He says those who paid on time were hit in the pockets while roughly 1,700 late-payers had their fines cancelled. "The outcome was perverse," said Councillor Stanton. "It means the council kept the money from roughly 2,000 people who paid-up promptly."
At £50 a fine, the council could have netted up to £100,000 from the blunder he says.
After writing three letters to Councillor Brian Haley, the council's parking chief, Councillor Stanton lodged a freedom of information request.
Councillor Haley, who was not responsible for parking when the blunder happened, did not respond with the council's head of Haringey Parking Services issuing the reply.
The written response confirms no one was taken to court for not paying up but says of the paid fines: "Councillor Haley has not issued any instructions in relation to those tickets".
Councillor Stanton has issued another freedom of information request asking if money will be refunded.
"Councillor Haley seems intent on keeping a public silence," he said. "Since he became the cabinet member responsible, officers have kept Councillor Haley in the dark."
He added: "If there's a £100,000 hole in your budget and a new member comes in you tell him about it. Cleraly they didn't tell him."
A council spokeswoman said: "We will respond to Councillor Stanton's request in due course."
